There are moments in the lives of our elders that we want to capture through our smartphones, cameras, etc. However, most of them will probably have a hard time posing for the camera. This might make the images look awkward and forced. Want to take the perfect pictures of your elders? Here are 10 photo poses for senior citizens:
6 Photo Poses for Senior Citizens:
1. Candid
A candid photo spontaneously captures the genuine reactions of a subject/subjects. This can be achieved by cracking a joke or two while taking pictures of your elderly subjects.
2. Thumbs Up
If you’ve taken photos of seniors before, you’ve probably noticed that they often do this pose. This was one of the most common poses when cameras first came out. It might not be the trendiest pose but it is generally a good idea to take photos of poses they are comfortable with.
3. The Back Hug
This might be the perfect pose for elderly couples or for pictures with their loved ones. In addition, they might feel more comfortable getting their photos taken in the company of a loved one.
4. The Walk Away
Perfect for out-of-town/vacation pictures. When paired with a picturesque background, this is great for seniors who don’t like showing their faces in pictures.
5. Y Pose
This is one of the more silly photos poses for senior citizens. If you want to bring out the inner child of your subject, you might want to consider this pose.
6. Natural Smile
This is the simplest yet most effective pose for a great portrait. Ask your subject to relax their face and jaw muscles. Tell them to think about something that makes them happy to bring out a more natural smile.
Tips for Taking Pictures of Seniors:
Talk to your subject. It might sound simple but having a conversation with your subject helps release tension. Sharing stories with your subject makes them more comfortable.
Remind them to be comfortable. For some reason people think that they should stand still in front of the camera. Remind them that it should not be the case.
Include other people. Include their loved ones in their photos. Whether if it is with their partner, friend, or pet, they tend to feel more comfortable in the presence of a loved one.
Don’t just focus on their face. If you’re not taking formal portraits, you don’t have to focus on their faces all the time.
Add movement. Your pictures don’t have to be boring.Have your subject make certain movements or actions then press the shutter button in the process.
Do not be afraid of silliness. Bring out the inner child in them! They don’t always have to be serious.
